Carol Bond

Carol, who served on summer staff at Ironwood Camp in California as part of the Homestead crew in 1984, grew up in Ames, IA. She graduated from Bob Jones University with a degree in church ministries with an emphasis in camp work and joined resident staff of Ironwood in 1985. For many years she served as assistant program director and then program director of Rivertown, where she was very instrumental in the success of our desert science camps, before launching the Broken I Ranch junior camp program and later the Ike’s Roost horsemanship and junior high camps. She is our senior program director and stays busy planning camps, running activities, and assisting other camps in the Family of Camps with her wealth of knowledge and experience.

"I grew up in a Christian home in Iowa. I accepted Christ as my Savior at a very young age, and made many decisions at camp during my teens. I attended Bob Jones University and during my freshman year I recognized God's plan for my life was to serve Him full time in camp ministry. I changed my major from Biology to Church Ministries with an emphasis in Camp Ministry. I worked in several different camps during the summers and after graduating I came to Ironwood to be a part of an internship program. I have served in many different parts of the camp over my 37 years at Ironwood. I am currently the Senior Program Director serving a team of 5 full time staff and 5 interns. The program team does a variety of jobs at Ironwood including managing the souvenir stores and coffee shops, recruiting of summer staff, promotion of camp as well as planning and running the camp programs. I enjoy traveling, camping, geo-caching, motorcycles, horses, crafts, reading and my dog. I have had opportunities to speak and teach in my church and at camp. I enjoy studying God's Word and sharing with ladies how it applies to every aspect of our lives."
